AEF to launch online database for ISO-certified agri-tech

The Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation will speak at Agri-Tech East’s ‘Re-visiting the Vision of the Connected Farm’ about its initiative to provide a database of information to farmers about ISOBUS certification.

The event will be held on Tuesday 15 October 2019, at Barclays Eagle Labs, Cambridge. Visitors to ‘The Connected Farm’ will experience the agricultural industry’s most recent efforts towards machine-to-machine communication and IoT integration.

ISOBUS is an international standard for agricultural electronics, which was developed to ensure interoperability of equipment. 20.5bn connected devices are projected to be in use by 2020, but for this to happen, users will need to know which equipment is interoperable and which is not.

Norbert Schlingmann, of the AEF (AgrnS databaseicultural Industry Electronics Foundation) said “The AEF found that many components marked as ISOBUS compliant were not. Therefore, we have created guidelines for manufacturers and developed an online database that will allow farmers and others to check their tractor or component’s ISOBUS certification.”

AEF’s work, with five test laboratories across Europe and the USA certifying ISOBUS equipment, enables farmers to run compatibility checks for different machines. In October, the company will also be launching a user-friendly version of their ISOBUS compatibility database, which farmers, manufacturers and the wider industry can access.

“We are working toward compatibility for the thousands of pieces of machinery in the database. Our major goal is to achieve this for every ISOBUS equipped machine across the world,” says Norbert.

The event will also feature speakers from Farmscan and Grounddata.
