Alan Anderson signs CDIL for SiC and discrete semis

Hertfordshire UK contract manufacturer Alan Anderson Manufacturing has signed a deal with Continental Device India (CDIL) to supply discrete semiconductors including silicon carbide components.

“We are taking a different approach to the supply of PCB assemblies,” said AA Manufacturing sales director Michael Knight. “We ensure supply by forging partnerships with our suppliers. When we get a BOM from a customer, we can work through that with them, providing alternative solutions from suppliers such as CDIL, which focus entirely on the standard, low-margin parts that leading brand names de-prioritise when capacity becomes limited.”

Established in 1964, CDIL is an ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 certified company. Usually a supplier of generic discrete semiconductors, it became the first Indian supplier of SiC mosfets in 2023.

It offers “transistors, diodes, rectifiers, triacs, SCRs, voltage regulators and TVS, in surface mount and leaded packages”, said AA Manufacturing. “Intriguingly, CDIL is also able to produce automotive-grade silicon carbide devices.”

Alan Anderson Manufacturing was formed in 2022 with a 17,000ft2 facility in Hemel Hempstead with £2m of production lines. It states: “the company’s road-map commits it to add more lines every time we pass 65% capacity”.
